How to Paint Stripes on a Wall
LOVE THESE COLORS! |
Instructions
Things You'll Need:
- Background paint color
- 1-inch brush
- Painting tape
- Roller
- Measuring tape
- Stripe color
- Pencil
- Decide the stripe color and the background color you desire.
- Paint the entire wall with the stripe color.
- Dry and repeat coats if necessary (let it dry for 3 days).
- Tape the first desired stripe on the wall.
- Measure between every stripe. This is crucial. If the top of one stripe to the top of the next stripe is 1 foot then the bottoms MUST also be 1 foot.
- Use a pencil to mark the tops and bottoms of each new stripe.
- Tape all the stripes. Be sure to use a tape that will not remove the paint when you pull it off ( I used green frog tape). To avoid bleed-through, run your fingernail along the edge of the tape. This is especially important on highly textured walls. ( I then painted over the first color paint with the same color that I used above and let it dry for 2 days before applying the gray color stripe, this helped with the bleed through on my textured walls)
- Paint the wall with the desired background color.
- Dry and repeat coats if necessary.
- Pull the tape.
- Touch-up the stripes with a 1-inch brush.
Hope this helps and happy painting!!
